Time for new chicks!

Guess what my mother informed me she found while perusing my favorite ag store today? BABY CHICKENS! in the fall no less… I was really torn. Starting baby chicks in the fall… getting them grown up enough to face a cold surly winter. Should I? Mr. Red is so lonely… he needs some more of his own kind. What is a rooster, without hens?

Well, the tomatoes are getting ready to be RED! Eugene has pulled it off again this year and has supplied the compost pile with over forty five bags of grass clippings. It is making a fine mulch as well! I came by an old chipper/shredder just collecting dust in someone’s barn. What a BOON! for …

I was bringing my daughter home from a birthday part for one of the children she babysits for… We passed a man on a riding mower going over what looked to be a good two acres of smooth green grass… it was beautiful. As we got closer, I realized he was BAGGING it. And of course, my composting mind went to, “I wonder what he DOES with all that grass?” And I started slowing down…
