Healthy Fall Snacks to Make Ahead

Eating healthy is often on everyone’s mind, but convenience often wins out. If you want to use super-foods for healthier snacks, making them ahead of time can really encourage you to use them more often. The following snacks are easy to make and allow you to grab-and-go whenever you need to.

Cinnamon Apple Chips

If you are looking for chips to enjoy in the fall, but don’t want to fry up potatoes, why not use apples? Apples are a wonderful superfood fruit to enjoy in the fall, are inexpensive, and filled with nutrients and antioxidants. Plus, they are low in fat and calories. You can make cinnamon apple chips by slicing apples thinly, coating with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, and baking them until crisp. You can also just sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon and leave out the sugar entirely if you prefer. Keep them in a container or baggie, and they’re ready to grab whenever you need a quick snack.

Mini Caramel Apples

One treat many people think of when they think of fall is the caramel apple. Unfortunately, it is very high in sugar and calories, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have it. However, instead of having a big apple covered in caramel, try making little caramel bites. You can scoop out caramel pieces in the shape of balls with a melon baller, then dip them in caramel. These can be kept in a bag or container where it is much easier to have a smaller amount, but still enjoy a little treat.

Fall Trail Mix

Trail mix is often purchased as a healthy snack, which is great, but you can also make your own better. It allows you control over all your ingredients, ensuring they are as nutritious as possible, plus you can sneak in some fall spices and super-foods at the same time. For example, try making a trail mix for the fall with ingredients like almonds and sunflower seeds, dried fruit, cinnamon chips, pumpkin pie spice, and maple syrup. Add in a little sea salt as well.

Crunchy Mix
This is a snack that is very similar to trail mix, and just as easy to make, if not easier. It can be like your favorite Chex mix using the Chex cereal, but you can also get creative and just include all your favorite ingredients. For the fall, you might want to add in some pumpkin seeds or that tend to be more plentiful (especially if you grew your own!) in the fall season. There are many ways to put this type of snack together.
