Chicken Run Phase One Complete Here in the yard in front of the chicken run is where I sit and take a break in between digging post holes and stapling wire. This was so much fun doing with the girls. Well, at least two of them showed up for the hard work. ;) Building a chicken coop has proven to be a bit trickier than I had hoped it would be. I suppose I could have skimped on lumber or not sunk the posts so deep and used less cement, blah, blah, but this will last for a very long time. If I ever sell this house, I hope they like chickens. Dog Eats Chick

Okay, dogs gotta eat. But I feed them well, I feed them 'good' dog food. I spend entirely too much money on it. Fresh chicken was not what I had in mind. We're not certain if it was the Lab or the Doberman. Heck, it could have been the cat, but one thing is certain, one is gone and there are feathers all over the yard. Poor baby chicks. Probably scared them to death.

Okay. So I moved to town. I sold out... through no real choice of my own (long story) I moved from out in the country with five acres and a large home to a small town. Yes, we are large enough to have a 'Wal-Mart' and we recently even got our own Lowe's store... wow. But Atwoods is still my favorite hardware/garden parts/camping stuff/ all around urban homestead place to shop. And they also happen to be the only place in town that sells baby chicks in the spring. My daughter and her high school friends tagged along while I was shopping (yes, clothing store, around the corner from where I was headed). But somehow they ended up with me at Atwoods.
